H&S Bakery

Pella® Reserve™ Traditional Wood Windows (Portabello Finish)

The H&S Bakery building bridges storied local tradition with modern energy-efficiency and authentic design. With this project, Pella Mid-Atlantic focused on refreshing the historic character of the bakery’s commercial storefront while honoring its roots in one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods.

Project Overview

The renovation was designed to enhance the building’s natural lighting and visual appeal, all while preserving much of the historic facade. Working in tandem with supplementary products such as brickmoulding and muntin hardware, the project emphasizes subtlety and durability within a bustling retail environment.

Product Integration

The centerpiece of this upgrade was the installation of Pella® Reserve™ Traditional Wood Windows, finished in Portabello—a warm, earthy tone chosen to complement the building’s brick exterior and classic detailing.

Crafted from durable wood frames with Pella’s advanced EnduraGuard® protection, these windows deliver lasting energy efficiency and resistance to moisture, decay, and stains. With refined putty profiles, detailed sash frames, and customizable grid patterns, every element balances precision craftsmanship with timeless design.

Design Intent

True to the project’s historic setting, the windows were selected for their ability to closely mimic traditional fenestration while meeting contemporary building codes and energy requirements. The careful use of authentic trims, finishes, and hardware pays homage to the bakery’s roots while ushering in a new era of comfort and accessibility.
